We concealed this parent’s identity to protect her daugthter who is reading the book in an 8th grade Honors English Class.

Honestly, I think you concealed that parent’s identity to prevent her daughter from facepalming until her skull cracks.

“Another parent says this isn’t the Romeo and Juliet he remembers in Middle School.”

Then, good sir, your professors weren’t teaching it well.  Or you were stoned during the entire class.

“The teachers assured me that they would not read the book any longer.  They would go back to the original Shakespeare.”
