Day 8 in the Jane Austen Tumblr Challenge: least favorite Austen couple. I’m going to have to go with Edward Ferrars and Elinor Dashwood. I have about as much patience with Edward as Marianne does. I will say that the film makes him extremely appealing, but none of that charm is there in the book. He’s quiet, boring and hurts Elinor for the length of the novel! I actually really like Elinor, but they’re my least favorite couple because Elinor can do SO MUCH better. Maybe I need to revisit S&S—it has been two years since I last read it!
