In response to a Tumblr post that read:
“I wish I was born in the 18th century of England; when women and girls still wore dresses and corsets, when the way to make new acquaintances was by attending a ball, when you were able to fall in love by just a look in the other’s eyes, when you still wrote long letters, when you still rode horses and carriages, when fairy-tale endings actually happened, and most importantly, when gentlemen like Mr. Darcy still existed in our world.”

ARE YOU FOR REAL?

eta - thanks for the reminder, staysandstories, that regency corsets were not as painful as corsets go. so just apply what i said to the original poster’s idealization of 18th/19th-century wear in general. :)
