Day 13 of the Jane Austen Tumblr Challenge: Least favorite Austen man. We’ve already covered this but my pick is Edward Ferrars for the reason stated above.

Guess what! If you go to theotherausten.tumblr.com, you will see a list of tags that separate my posts by book/movie. I’m going to go through my old posts and retag some to be more specific. This way you can search by character and movie version too (as in 1995 P&P versus 2005 P&P). It will make it helpful if you ever want to go back and reblog something! :)

Day 11 in the Jane Austen Tumblr Challenge: Least favorite book.
Obviously I love every single book, but if I had to choose one it would be Sense and Sensibility. I don’t go back to it as often as I should. The dialogue in S&S can be clunky sometimes (how could it not be after being converted from epistolary form?)…I just prefer the ease of her other novels. Still, S&S has some of the best character work in literature, period.

Really, he SHOULD be dating MRS. Dashwood.

There’s not a creature on earth who doesn’t swoon when he says this line.

God, I’d kill to see Kate Winslet’s version of the chicken.

I am so glad they deleted this scene from the movie. The fact is, they should have deleted it from the ‘deleted scenes’ section, too. One of the most painfully awkward kisses I have ever seen. Was Emma going for historical accuracy? “How might a 19th century woman react to her first kiss?” The movie doesn’t go for historical or literary accuracy over all, so why start with the goddamn kiss?
